A day-long forum for the health sector will be held featuring one of Britain's top neurosurgeons. Dr Henry Marsh will be the keynote speaker at the next event in the Health Quality & Safety Commission’s Open Forum: International Speaker Series, on Wednesday 9 March 2016 in Wellington.
The forum has an emphasis on clinical leadership in health quality and safety. You will also hear from an impressive line-up of senior New Zealand health professionals who will share their insights and practical experiences, and draw on what clinical leadership means for them in practice.
His surgical interests are centred on brain tumour surgery and he was one of the pioneers of the use of awake craniotomy for intrinsic brain tumours. He was the subject of a major BBC documentary Your Life in Their Hands in 2004, which won the Royal Television Society Gold Medal. He has been working with neurosurgeons in the former Soviet Union, mainly in Ukraine, since 1992 and his time there was the subject of the award-winning film The English Surgeon.
