The Health Quality & Safety Commission acknowledges the hard work and dedication of departing board member Dr David Galler.
David was an inaugural member of the Commission board and left on 1 August 2015 following a five-year term.
David was formerly principal medical advisor to the Minister of Health and clinical director of acute care at Middlemore Hospital. He worked extensively on quality and safety issues through a close involvement in the Ministry of Health’s Quality Improvement Committee – the predecessor of the current Commission – and was integral to the Commission’s establishment.
“David played a central role in the creation of the Commission and bought outstanding knowledge, expertise and passion to the organisation,” says Prof Alan Merry, board Chair.
“His high-level leadership and governance experience was a real asset to the board.”
“I thank David for his hard work for the board and the Commission and wish him all the best with his new passion – advancing intensive care in Samoa.”
