Patient experience measures are routinely in place for hospitals. Feedback about the care received in public hospitals is a valuable indicator of how well health services are working for patients and their whānau.

The adult hospital inpatient experience survey provides information about the experience of care received in New Zealand’s public hospitals. The survey covers four key domains: communication, partnership, co-ordination and physical and emotional needs.

The information gathered at local, regional and national levels is used to benchmark patient experience across the country and to improve services locally.

For all questions about the survey please email survey@hqsc.govt.nz.
