Your general practice or community health clinic may invite you to take part in the adult primary care patient experience survey to find out what your experience with health care is like and how your overall care is managed.
By taking part in the survey, you would be helping to improve the quality of care and access to health services in local communities across New Zealand.
Taking part is voluntary and anonymous.
Benefits of taking part
The survey enables you to have a voice about your experience. The health teams that care for you can hear your voice through a direct and timely link.
Privacy
If you take part, your privacy will be protected throughout the process. Your practice will need to share your contact details, including email address and mobile number, only so you can receive an email or text invitation to take part.
How you will be surveyed
If you have been to your GP or nurse during a week where we have been selecting patients to complete the survey (what we call the sample week), you may receive an email or text message inviting you to take part. The invitation will be sent one-to-two weeks after your visit with the GP or nurse and will include a link to complete the survey online.
How patients are selected for survey
Patients enrolled with and seen at participating practices during the survey sample week may be selected to take part. Children aged under 15 years will not be surveyed.
Survey frequency
The survey is conducted nationally every three months. You won’t be asked to take part more than once every six months. In fact, there is only a 20 percent chance that a patient who sees a doctor or nurse once a month will be invited to take part twice in the same year.
