Few places remaining for the Health and Disability Commissioner conference

There are a few places remaining for the Health and Disability Commissioner conference on 13 November 2017. The conference, in Wellington, is a ‘must attend’ for everyone who delivers health and disability care and champions the rights of consumers to get the best possible care, every time.

The conference theme is ‘Consent, culture and the consumer experience’.

You will hear from a challenging and engaging line-up of speakers.

Health and Disability Commissioner Anthony Hill will discuss the value of a good culture in health care and a team approach.

Mental Health Commissioner Kevin Allan and a panel of consumers and clinicians will consider current issues in mental health and addiction services.

Gareth Parry, an expert in human centred services, will talk about how important it is to design services with consumers and for their needs – not what you think they need. Charismatic, intensive care specialist Dr David Galler will talk about what matters – to all of us.

In a breakout session, Deputy Commissioner Disability, Rose Wall and a panel of clinicians and consumers will discuss health service design for the disabled consumer.

Breakout session topics will also include resolving complaints, clinical negligence and the threshold for professional discipline, and a presentation on the analysis of complaints data, with a focus on patterns and predictions.
