Recommendations for a National Surgical and Procedural Site Infection Surveillance Programme

This document presents recommendations to the Ministry of Health for the development of a consistent, evidence-based approach to surveillance of surgical and procedural site infections, actions that will deliver health and economic benefits for both patients and hospitals. Surveillance will provide hospitals with information to guide clinical practice to enhance patient safety and free up resources for other healthcare activities.
