Dr Wills is also the chair of the Hawke’s Bay DHB Child and Youth Mortality Review Committee, which reviews the deaths of children and young people aged 28 days to 25 years.
New Zealand’s four mortality review committees now operate under the umbrella of the Health Quality & Safety Commission.
“Russell brings a lot of experience to his new role, both as a front line clinician and also through his work with the mortality review committee,” says Janice Wilson, CEO of the Health Quality & Safety Commission.
“I’m sure he’ll be a strong advocate for the rights of children.”
