Dr Leona Wilson awarded ANZCAs highest honour

Dr Leona Wilson, chair of the Perioperative Mortality Review Committee, was recently awarded the Robert Orton Medal for distinguished service to anaesthesia - the highest honour of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia (ANZCA).

Leona Wilson receives medal Dr Wilson is a former president of ANZCA and the director of professional affairs for the ANZCA International Medical Graduate Specialist Committee. Dr Wilson was the first female to be elected president of ANZCA (2008-10) and the first New Zealander to hold the position.

Dr Wilson provides expert advice to a number of organisations in New Zealand, including the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and the Competence Assessment Team of the Medical Council of New Zealand.
