Patients and Clinicians: Governing Together

14 Jun 2017 | Partners in Care

How does a board work with both clinicians and consumer representation at the same table?

How do multiple perspectives come together to inform decisions?

This video shows effective consumer representation at the governance level and how this works with clinical leadership. It explores the governance model of the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Hemophilia, a board with equal representation of clinicians and patients/family.

This is an example to consider for anyone setting up or developing consumer councils and other mechanisms to include the consumer voice at all levels of decision-making. It reinforces the Commission’s view that consumers should be involved at all levels of decision-making in the health and disability sector.
