The 2017 Practice Managers & Administrators Association of New Zealand (PMAANZ) conference was held in Wellington during September. The conference combined three essential elements pivotal to a high functioning, dynamic and happy workplace; ‘innovate, integrate and motivate’.
Sally Nichol, Practice Manager from Hutt Union Community Health Services (HUCHS) and Sandy Bhawan, Clinical Pharmacist from Te Awakairangi Health Network (TeAHN) spoke at the conference. Sandy and Sally talked about the experience, learnings and benefits gained from their Whakakotahi quality improvement project, which is focused on improving diabetes care, and the great progress they have made.
Jane Cullen, quality improvement advisor at the Commission, started the presentation with an overview of the Whakakotahi programme and how improvement science can provide tools for planning, implementing, evaluating, and embedding new approaches into practice.
