The Health Quality & Safety Commission ran the April Falls quiz as part of ongoing activity for April Falls 2015. The quiz closed on Friday 8 May 2015 with over 2600 entries.
The Quiz is an engaging way for people to test their knowledge about falls, and as a survey of knowledge and attitudes about falls, it measures sector knowledge of falls risks and prevention.
The Quiz is still online for learning purposes, however it is closed for data collection and prize purposes. Go to the online April Falls Quiz.
The answer document (available at the bottom of this page) gives a quick overview of the answers. Some questions were about perceptions, and therefore there was no correct answer. Otherwise, correct answers are highlighted in orange.
Make checking your answers an opportunity to learn more – you may like to look up related resources at the links given for most questions.
Three names were selected at random by Versus Research (the independent research company conducting the quiz on behalf of the Commission) for the three prize categories. We’d like to congratulate:
- Hospital category: Dawn Richards, PA to Assistant Group Manager, Mental Health Services for Older People, Waikato District Health Board
- Residential care category: Lorna Tattersfield, Caregiver, Bupa Longwood Care Home, Riverton
- Primary/community/other category: Katie Robertson, Occupational Therapist, Community Allied Health Team (Tauranga), Bay of Plenty District Health Board.
All entries qualified for one of three prizes, each to the value of $1000, for a development activity which grows the capability of an individual, team or organisation. The prizes are intended to build capability in health and related services in New Zealand, preferably related to falls prevention or quality improvement. Winners of the prizes will work with their organisations to propose an activity (which could be personal professional development, or which supports team, service or organisation development) acceptable to the Commission in order to receive the prize.
The national report for the 2015 April Falls Quiz is available from the list below. It gives results for 2015, with comparisons against results in 2014 and 2013. In July 2015, each DHB area was provided with a ‘personalised’ quiz report of local results for use by falls prevention committees and cross-sector networks.
