Quarterly surgical site infection investigation meeting (26 October 2022)

This Surgical Site Infection Improvement Programme (SSIIP) meeting with surgical site infection (SSI) champions included a case study presented by Bobbye Buckland, Infection Prevention Nelson Marlborough. The case study focused on intra-operative hypothermia as a risk factor for SSI. Bobbye also shared her experiences in engaging orthopaedic surgeons to actively participate in the SSIIP.

Other topics were a brief overview of the variable life-adjusted display (VLAD) reporting, a new resource from the adverse events team, with healthcare-associated infection examples for severity assessment code (SAC) reporting and a brief overview of the number of SSII investigation forms this year.

If you were invited but unable to attend, you may contact the Commission at SSIIP@hqsc.govt.nz for a link to a recording of the webinar.
