Professor Sunny Collings appointed CE of Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission

Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission
03 July 2025

Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sunny Collings as our new Chief Executive, commencing 13 August.

Professor Collings brings a depth of experience in public health, research, and executive leadership. She is currently Chief Executive of the Health Research Council of New Zealand and previous roles include Dean and Head of Campus at the University of Otago, Wellington. She is also a Professor of Psychiatry and has made significant contributions to health equity, mental health, and the evidence base supporting improved outcomes for all New Zealanders.

Professor Collings fills the vacancy left by Dr Peter Jansen who stepped down in March for health reasons.

Board chair Rae Lamb says, "The Board and team at the Commission are delighted Professor Collings has chosen to join us, and we look forward to working with her.

"I'd also like to thank the Director of Engagement and Impact Kere Pomare and the Director of Finance and Digital Bevan Sloan, who continue to act in the role in the interim."
