The Health Quality & Safety Commission is recruiting an experienced senior data analyst to enable the successful delivery of the Commission’s trauma programme. The trauma programme was established in 2019 under a contract with the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for the Commission to work with the National Trauma Network to build a contemporary trauma system across New Zealand. As such, this role will be full time until the conclusion of the contract in June 2025, with a possibility for renewal.
We are looking for someone who is committed to working as an integral part of the programme team but also has the confidence, drive and initiative to be a self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude. You will be working among a team of analysts on a broad range of analytic projects focused on understanding the end-to-end management of care and outcomes for people who experience major trauma. Your experience with, and a sound understanding of, health system data, statistical methods and data visualisation applications will be an asset to the team. If you’ve got some experience with Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs), this would be a huge complement to our wider programme of work. An interest in using data and measurement for supporting quality improvement would be ideal.
This role will primarily support the Commission’s third-party-funded trauma programme, and may also contribute to the infection prevention and control programme. The senior analyst will be expected to engage with external agencies including ACC, the National Trauma Network, Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Te Aka Whai Ora (Māori Health Authority) and regional trauma networks as well as a wider national and international academic community.
The Health Quality & Safety Commission is a stand-alone Crown entity with a Board responsible to the Minister of Health. The Commission is responsible for assisting providers across the whole health and disability sector, both private and public, to improve service safety and quality and therefore outcomes for all those who use these services in New Zealand. Read more about our values.
The Commission has a strong focus on Māori health advancement and reducing inequity, and the successful candidate will contribute to these goals.
We celebrate inclusion and diversity in all areas of culture. Our organisation has a commitment to creating a truly visibly inclusive and accepting work environment for our takatāpui and LGBTTQI++ kaimahi (staff) and manuhiri (visitors).
