Questions and answers about QSMs

29 Aug 2013 | Reducing Harm from Falls

The quality and safety markers for falls prevention are a way of measuring if we are doing the right things to prevent falls and reduce fall-related injuries in public hospitals. The markers are in two parts: process measures (risk assessments and individualised care plans) and outcome measures (fall-related hip fracture).

The questions and answers include:

  • a worked example to show how the process measures give us feedback at unit level
  • an explanation of why the age point has been set at 55 years and over for Maori and Pacific peoples.
