Australian and New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry Annual Report 2022

The Australian and New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry Annual Report 2022 was released in September 2022. You can read the full report here along with the now-separate Hip Fracture Care Clinical Care Standard report.

The 2022 report shows further improvements in assessment and management of pain, assessment of cognition before surgery and monitoring for delirium, which can be a complication of hospital admission and surgery in frail, older patients. For the first time, the report also includes the assessment of frailty, which was recorded with the Clinical Frailty Scale for 82 percent of patients in New Zealand.

The Hip Fracture Care Clinical Care Standard report, which monitors hospital performance against the Standard, shows that, while hospitals are improving in some areas, gains still need to be made in others.

An educational slide deck is also available.
