Recovering from a hip fracture | Pikinga ora i tētahi whatinga hope (booklet in English and te reo Māori)

7th August, 2023

Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission has helped to develop a hip fracture recovery information booklet to meet the needs of the population in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The booklet supports the implementation of standard 7 transition from hospital care from the clinical care standard for hip fracture care from the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and Te Tāhū Hauora.

The Aotearoa New Zealand booklet was developed by people who have experienced a hip fracture using a co-design approach and included frontline staff who work in this clinical area. The purpose is to provide consumers and their whānau with useful information to help during their recovery.

An important part of the booklet is for the consumer to be able to work through and document a personal plan with their health care team before discharge from hospital. This team may include doctors, nurses, health care assistants, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

The booklet is available below in English and te reo Māori, in A4 and A5 formats, either as web PDFs or print PDFs. The web files are for in-house general printing or viewing onscreen, and the print PDFs are for professional printing.
