Open Forum with Dr Karen Hitchcock: May you never grow old

Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission
10 April 2017
9:00 AM  - 3:30 PM

Join Dr Karen Hitchcock and New Zealand experts to discuss and debate both the importance and the role of older people in New Zealand, and the implications for improving the quality and safety of our health care system.

With honesty and deep experience, Australian doctor and writer Dr Hitchcock looks at end-of-life decisions, frailty and dementia, over-treatment and escalating costs. She argues we must change to meet the needs of an aging population. Dr Hitchcock is the author of Dear Life: On caring for the elderly and has also written on the obesity epidemic.

She is a staff physician in acute and general medicine at a large Melbourne public hospital.
