Clinical lead Michal Boyd receives award for dedication to nurse practitioner profession

A nurse practitioner’s dedication to building the profession in New Zealand was honoured with a special pounamu at the Nurse Practitioners New Zealand conference.

Dr Michal Boyd – an American-trained NP specialising in the care of older adults who was registered as the country’s 7th NP in 2003 – is a former chair of NPNZ and an Associate Professor at the University of Auckland’s School of Nursing and Department of Geriatric Medicine. She is also clinical lead for aged residential care programme at the Commission.

She was recognised as a leading aged care researcher and as a tireless advocate for nurse practitioners and the elderly.

The Commission congratulates Michal on her award.
