Global Handwashing Day – 15 October 2020

Infection prevention and control
07 October 2020

It's Global Handwashing Day on 15 October! This year’s theme is 'Hand Hygiene for All', a reminder that we must work toward universal access and practice of handwashing with soap for now and for a healthy future.

The Health Quality & Safety Commission has published a series of posters showing the correct steps to take when using soap or hand rub. They are available in Arabic, English, Hindi, Samoan, Simplified Chinese, te reo Māori, Tongan and Traditional Chinese (how to hand rub only). Files can be viewed and downloaded here for hand rub and here for hand wash.

You can also order free printed A3 copies of the following posters online here:

  • For public or clinical areas – Wash your hands or Are you giving germs a hand?
  • For clinical areas only – How to hand rub or How to hand wash
