Nudges to improve patient experience

Partners in Care Patient experience
19 July 2019

Using insights from behavioural science, the Health Quality & Safety Commission worked with Ogilvy and Nelson Marlborough, Northland and Waikato district health boards (DHBs) to develop ‘nudges’ to respond to the lower-scoring areas of the national adult inpatient experience survey results.

The projects included follow-up calls for patients after discharge from hospital (Nelson Marlborough), a home safe checklist (Waikato) and improved discharge documentation (Northland).

We have produced three brief videos detailing the projects. These videos, and more information about the projects is available below.

The sustainability and spread of these interventions will be followed over time.
