Kia āta kōwhiri Choosing Wisely

The Choosing Wisely campaign seeks to reduce harm from unnecessary and low-value tests and treatment.

In August 2017, the Health Quality & Safety Commission’s mental health and addiction (MHA) quality improvement programme team held four regional workshops to enable anyone with an interest in MHA services an opportunity to have input into the five-year programme.

Over 400 providers, consumers, their families and whānau joined with members of the Commission's MHA team at the workshops. The purpose was to talk through and identify opportunities to improve the quality and safety of the care provided for people with mental health and addiction issues.

Feedback from the workshops has been used to inform the design and content of the five-year MHA quality improvement workplan and influenced projects and initiatives to improve the provision of care.
