Home and community support services experience survey logo, which comprises three speech bubbles in shades of blue sitting above blue writing that says ‘He ratonga tautokoi, he aroha tangata’ and underneath in smaller blue writing, ‘Home and community support services experience survey’ The home and community support services experience survey captures people’s experiences of their home and community support services. This includes people receiving ageing at home services, disability services and injury support services.

The feedback gathered is used to help service providers understand how well they are meeting people’s needs and how they can improve the services they are providing. The information gathered at local, regional and national levels reflects people’s experiences across the country. This gives Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission and service funders information to help improve the quality of home and community support services at a national level.

The survey was developed as a partnership between Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission, the Home and Community Health Association, the New Zealand Health Group and home and community support service providers who opted to participate.

The survey was launched in September 2024 and will be repeated annually for three years. Providers choose whether they would like to participate in this survey.

The survey covers different aspects of the home and community support service experience, including effective communication, effective scheduling, being treated with respect, and ease of contact.

The survey is completed online, in either English or Te Reo Māori. Invitations are sent by email and/or SMS. Some providers also choose to use a self-complete paper option. Participation is voluntary. Survey responses are anonymous unless people choose to provide their contact details.
