Te Pou is a tool to assist with the interpretation, and reporting of, Māori mortality. The tool aims to help ensure the National Mortality Review Committee receives consistent feedback, and to strengthen a Māori perspective in mortality review.
The guidelines further assist the committee to embed culturally appropriate components in death reviews, reports and recommendations, and is to be used in conjunction with Te Pou.
