Kia āta kōwhiri Choosing Wisely

The Choosing Wisely campaign seeks to reduce harm from unnecessary and low-value tests and treatment.

There is currently no national consensus on which patients should be transferred to a neuroscience centre after injury. The goal of this workstream is that all patients with sTBI, defined as a pre-intubation GCS score of <9 and an abnormal CT head scan, are managed within a neuroscience centre, irrespective of their need for neurosurgery. The goal is to ensure equitable access to specialist services for the patients who are most likely to benefit from admission to a neuroscience centre.

As this action plan and care pathway are currently being developed, this section will be updated once this work is complete.
